The Princess has already grown an inch and gained a pound! She's lost most of her reddish skin color from birth and she's much more alert.
The doctor's sheet says she's in the 81st percentile for height and the 33rd percentile for weight at 21.75 inches and 8.56 pounds.
She really, really, really likes to be held; but she is a fast eater. We do not recall the boys wanting to be held as much, though everyone in our family (except mom) eats quickly until two-years. Toddler bets are off. Angie can already do a mean rendition of serious eyebrows:
She lets us know if she is unhappy about something. Generally, we like this because it's a sign of good health. She slept for a three-hour stretch followed by a four-hour stretch one evening this week. And the angels sang and mom danced! The doctor tells us babies have a growth spurt at week-three. So that explains the good night-sleeping.
We are keeping a eye on her tracking to ensure that her vision matures correctly. Most kids' vision does in time, though both of our boys seemed to have delayed visual maturation. (Yes, this is a medical diagnosis. It even has an acronym: DVM. Sometimes, I can't believe doctors get paid for this...) As of now, she's exactly where she should be.
The other thing the doctor observed is how well she can turn her head. Angela is a very strong girl. She's already rolled from her back to her side and from her tummy to her back. She turns her head in both directions while on her tummy; and she turns herself in quarter-circles (anchoring with her head) while on her back. She is very determined. We hope she continues to be a strong girl!
She's stolen the hearts of her brothers and her dad. Everyone wants to hold her. She is a very loved little baby! The transition has been easier for the kids this time around. Going from one to two children worried us much more. The Eldest is adjusting better; The Engineer doesn't seem to be struggling at all. He runs up to her all day and says, "I wuv duh bee-bee!" and "Dat bee-bee's kyoot!" I wished I'd had older brothers when I was younger. God never sent them; but He sent my girl two. I hope they always get along this well!
She's had great expressions as she's begun to see more. She often stares up at our skylights.
She also watches ceiling fans.
We are looking forward to seeing how she develops within the next month. For fun, check out The Eldest and The Engineer at the same age. :)
