Daddy's Boy

Monday, December 31, 2012

Someone is really attached to his dad these days. He cries when his dad leaves and follows him around when he returns. He catches his dad's attention and then runs away as a bait for his favorite game of 15-month-old-Tag. He tries to blow bubbles on his dad's arm and laughs like crazy. He shows off when his dad is around. Yesterday, he insisted on sitting on his dad's lap and holding onto his dad's thumb for the train ride back from the airport. I think this is a healthy sign that he's moving from being a baby to being a little boy naturally. What sweet stages we get to experience as parents!

Snow Day

Saturday, December 29, 2012

It snowed all day yesterday. Large, fluffy flakes came down slowly the entire day. Isaac enjoyed watching all of the action from the deck door.

His new dog watched with him.

The part where the snow gets thrown over the deck rail with a shovel was his favorite.

Watching the shoveling.

This morning the sun came out.

I really like how beautiful the outdoors looks after a snow day. Everything glistens.

Ice Skating

Christmas day offered perfect weather for outdoor picture taking and ice skating. It was sunny and dry. For the first time in years, the ice at the pond near my parents' home was very smooth and clear of snow (thanks to the blizzard).

Monica practicing backward skating.

The ice was at least 6" thick and had been frozen for a couple of weeks (safe for ice skating). A few spots look iffy in the photo, but they were also as thick as the rest of the ice.

Lacing up.

My parents have a collection of ice skates -- complete with guards and laces -- from all of the kids over the years. Unfortunately, I can't ice skate while pregnant (and there wasn't a pair in Rich's size). However, we glided across the smooth ice and took pictures and enjoyed the afternoon. Mom and Julie watched Isaac at home (thank you!).

Max had the time of his life! I included this photo mostly so you can see him basking with delight. He dragged a stick or two onto the ice. Dad cleaned them off.

So much fun! I miss my ice skating days!! :)

Merry Christmas!

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

Here is a raw medley.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Isaac's favorite piece. He really likes the water canteen, which he calls a "bulb."

Maria's popsicle stick home.
It may have reminded me of this.

We might have awaken to the single digits...

But it is sunny!

A good day to introduce Isaac to snow.

Trying to hand some snow to dad.

Maria grabbed her sled to take him for a ride.

First sled ride.

Smiling at mom.

Smiling at dad.

Ready to go inside.
