Morning Reading Inspiration:

Thursday, July 31, 2014

This command which I enjoin on you today is not too mysterious and remote for you.

It is not up in the sky . . . Nor is it across the sea . . .

No, it is something very near to you, already in your mouths and in your hearts;

you have only to carry it out.

-Deuteronomy 30:11-14

Scintillating Dinner Conversation:

This is my armpit, Mama.

And that is your armpit.

And Andre has an armpit.

And Dada has an armpit.

And friends have armpits.

And babies have armpits . . .

Coke-Drinking Brothers

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

I see something I want.

More please!

"Here, Andre. This is your coke. And this is my coke."

Let's just stare at these beautiful drinks for a while before we drink them.

"It's coke, Andre."

How long can we make it without fighting . . .

Let me just rest my leg on my brother's.

"Here, Andre. Put your feet on my legs."

"No. Put your feet on my legs, Andre."

Hmmm . . . what's in Big Brother's cup? The same thing.

I guess I'll drink mine.

Summertime in Southeast Michigan

Monday, July 28, 2014

We made an impromptu trip to Michigan, which Isaac had been asking about for a while. Specifically, he wanted to go "on an airplane and fly to Michigan to see Grandpa and Grandma." The drive is much cheaper. So we transported ourselves that way. And the boys were pretty great sports during the nine-hour trip! The only traffic we encountered was leaving town on Friday. Here are a few photos. (Thanks to Grandpa & Grandma for several of the photos & all the videos).

The boys went to see Grandpa and Grandma first thing on Saturday. Andre learned how to use a fork.

The hubs and I were able to go to breakfast by ourselves TWICE while we were here. (Thank you, Grandpa & Grandma! What a special treat. :) Unfortunately, we did not take any photos.)

The boys went their own ways for a while and each received loads of attention, which they ate up.

Isaac's favorite part of the playground.

Andre visited with Aunt Roxane and ate delicious homemade cookies and pie and whipped cream! And then we went out for BBQ because that's how we roll.

A sweet Andre looking at Mama captured in this one. We have to remember the sweet moments!:

A few of us needed naps in the afternoon. But the nap-resistant among us went to the spray ground.

And the pool.

"I just cannot sleep while traveling -- too many new and exciting things to do!!"

In the evening, all of the Hub's siblings and their spouses were together, which was the highlight of the trip. We have to document these things when they happen!

Money See. Monkey Do.

We ate Buddy's Detroit-style pizza, which is like deep dish except way fewer calories -- yay!
A good time was had by all. We only wished we had a couple days more!!

Fauquier County Fair

Sunday, July 20, 2014

We do love a good fair. This was a nice way to spend a Saturday morning.
The boys loved the animals and trucks.

Andre went crazy when he saw the animal tent. This may be the most excited he's been in his life.

The boys cracked us up with their expressions. I wouldn't have touched this bad boy either:

The goats were less intimidating.

Isaac wanted to feed the giraffe. He was pretty brave.

There is an art to feeding these animals.

The trick is to get the food on the giraffe's tongue without actually being touched by the giraffe's tongue. This was a close call:

We thoroughly washed our hands when we were done.

I couldn't get this one to face the camera. The spread of those horns was pretty impressive though:

This place offered the most amazing pulled pork I've ever had.

Ordering his first ice cream cone with his very own money. (Thanks, Aunt Roxane!)

The guys threw sprinkles on for free.

This made Isaac's whole day.

I heart fair food. We walked three miles today to help burn this off. :)
