This has been the lentiest Lent in fifteen years. Here are a few things we did.
Watched this to keep laughing:
Had lots of rain, cold air, and hail:
The rain brought some rainbows:
Someone wiped his mouth on his clean coat six seconds before we had to leave for school and took my piece of toast. To be fair, he offered to return it.
Attended a couple of women's conferences:
Visited my old friend. Asked for help:
Was told to be a better parent but not asked what was going on or if my choices were to avoid other, worse options. Felt isolated and judged by someone unwilling to hear a different narrative. Reminded me of my old job. Still struggling with that. Pray for me!
Visited with our rector:
Took this one to ER for stitches:
Had the stitches removed six days later. He didn't fuss at all!
Took kids to a new playground:
Asked myself, "Why?"
Celebrated St. Joseph's Solemnity with doughnuts:
Had really good conversations with the kids.
Bought a barbell rack, barbells, and weights to work out the pubescent rage in healthy ways:
We were told to pick out a “talent,” one of five or six canned options. I don’t know that I fit any, but this was the closest. It seemed like a ridiculous exercise and turned out that I was one of the only people to follow directions. So I took a pic for DH:
