Urgent Care > The Emergency Room

Thursday, January 19, 2023

This is a sprain, which has slowed her noticeably. That’s how we knew it was more serious. Three urgent care trips butting up to 5:00pm on Saturday and we had x-rays and a sprain diagnosis. She told three versions of this story: I ran through the neighbor’s lawn and bushes instead of the sidewalk like my parents told me and rolled my ankle on a rock. None of her tellings were the full story. We love our “I-just-have-so-much-energy” one!

Inspiration for Today

Monday, January 9, 2023

“God has created me to do him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which he has not committed to another … I have a part in a great work; I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good, I shall do His work; I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place, while not intending it, if I do but keep His commandments and serve Him in my calling.”

Christmas Break - Week 2 - 2.5

Sunday, January 8, 2023

"Christmas break was twenty-one days," the Engineer leaned over to tell me at Mass as though it were of great import. Break was actually 17.5 days. It rained most of the time. Some years we have tremendous breaks; others are somewhat depressing. We are glad to be back to our normal schedule tomorrow! Here are some shots from Christmas day when it was 80* and sunny:

All of the dolls are naked, beheaded, de-limbed, and lying on the floor. I can't figure out why this is their predictable, unfailing fate but it is. #LivinTheDream

This is where I put down the camera to correct #5:

"Can you take me out?" he asked. He proceeded to say "Hi!" to everyone and give them his name. "I'm fwee!" Everyone loves him. He does well when he has enough social activity.

One of my absolutely favorite views. The service is personal; the food is excellent.

This one happened while I was at work. I asked about the origin; and The Fifth passed me a line about Sol encountering a lion. So 5 is the primary suspect.

It's no big deal to Sol.

He's tough and incredibly resilient regarding this type of thing.

New Year’s Eve/Day

Tuesday, January 3, 2023

Today is a good day for a good day.

It was windy and “cold.” So, we went out for breakfast; and there were no lines at 9:30am!

This made him ecstatic:

We took a long walk on the beach to live out amazing singles ad cliches.

South Coast Plaza with Sees and hot chocolate. Our kids were counted by strangers only once on this trip. “Wow! SIX kids?!” “Yes, they’re amazing,” I responded with a smile as the Eldest managed the stroller and a Starbucks mug with ease. According to DH, “They get counted every time we go out! They were counted twice today.” (NY Day) Strangers’ comments are said mostly in a tone of awe and wonder and are seldom negative.
