In case you're wondering why she's so tough:
She gets targeted, unaware so often. Now she's a fighter. And a lover. F5 fell in the snow, felt wind gushes, and was not a fan. Poor little Cali boy! It dawned on us this might be his future.
The drive to Big Bear was beautiful. We passed a few snow tubing hills, which we really wanted to stop at until we realized they charge as much as $20/person per hour. What?! So, we did what all the other smart parents were doing and pulled over to the side of the road and made our own fun.
After his hands made contact with snow:
To be fair, there were several spots where I stepped and then fell 6" while the snow/ice scraped my leg. But who am I to complain. I miss the snow! We didn't let him stand in the deep spots.
Mr. Serious loves his dad (above) and is incapable of having a clean face for more than 5 minutes or keeping his head away from the granite counter. We now have a phrase in our home, "granite wins," which is applied to many things: heads, limbs, cups, bowls, plates...
Another example of Sweet Pea being targeted:
This one is so active it's extra challenging to get a clear shot that isn't posed. This is at 1/1000 and f/4.5 with ISO 100. Doing my best...
She is the perfect sister for a male-dominant family:
The boys do so well out in nature's wide open spaces. I wish we could get them all the resources they need (and I need) and also live in the country. But these compromises remind us that this life isn't our destiny. We had a great day, however!
