The Twins
Sunday, November 27, 2022
A majority of our cacophony is generated by those sixteen months apart, affectionately referred to as "the twins":
We send them outside when the screaming ensues.
"You may scream outside," we say.
Sometimes Mr. Serious may be found screaming alone in the direction of our neighbor's back yard, technically consistent with the rule. I apologize to the internet void. It's better than inside our home!

"Mom, I did a front flip without even touching the ground! Want to see?" she announced the other morning. She did. She cart wheels through our home every day and cannot seem to spend all the energy she has. She is at a great age where she's starting to have *some* inhibitions but is also incredibly excited about life.
"Mom, what is your favorite strawberry in this picture?" "Mom, who do you want to be? I want to be this girl?" "What is your favorite color? My new favorite color is that one that's like white but is not quite white. What's that color?" "Ivory?" "Yes! Ivory is my favorite color!" Imagine her bouncing around and saying all these things in a staccato; and you have an accurate picture of this child. She also is my photo shoot friend -- the one who truly doesn't mind.
Stare Contest + Running
Tuesday, November 22, 2022
His developmental pediatrician recently challenged him to a staring contest. He won. "It was kind of creepy. It lasted a whole minute with no blinking," DH informed me. We have a winner. He's also been knocking it out of the park with baking, dressing up, and initiating resolutions with his two youngest brothers. For example, he will pick up the baby if he's crying. He is growing in empathy. His entire ABA team is new this year. So it's an adjustment for him; but he seems to be doing well. He still has a quick wit and was the first of our children to laugh at younger than 3 months.
He's been asking to go running with me. I offered on the condition that he kept up and dressed appropriately (a constant battle). "Please let me go, Mom! I have SO MUCH energy!" He did. We completed one mile, but he could have run twenty. His energy and endurance levels are super high, much higher than the average nine-year-old.

I found a cheap flight for one day basically. We maximized the time together. I love these people!
My goddaughter is a teenager!
St. John the Baptist Church in Front Royal, VA. This is not my best photo, but I'm putting it here for memory's sake. They offered a noon Mass, which is what fit the schedule.
Sr. E. Our conversations get better every year. It's a blessing to walk this life with her!
It is truly amazing flying solo. There were several families with small children; and I was sure to smile at them and greet them when appropriate. It's the hardest and best job on earth!
I ate a florentine omelette solo here. The server asked me about where I was from and where I was going and listened to my answers. I was taken aback. The world needs better listeners. I hope I am one!
I loved everything about this trip.
