Westview Orchards

Sunday, August 31, 2014

When we arrived in Michigan, the Grandparents A took the boys to Westview Orchards.
They had a great time.

I'm not sure who had more fun, they or the goats.

The boys ate lunch afterward. Andre even used his own silverware!

Wisconsin Dells

Saturday, August 30, 2014

We finally ventured into the Wisconsin Dells with Dad. Grandma & Grandma S took off work on our last day in WI. It was raining so we found the best spot for indoor fun, Knuckleheads.

Some of us did the ropes course.

Some of us were kind enough to take others' places.

Apparently, walking on roofs is good for one's fear of heights.

Dad and Isaac had fun on the race track.

After a while it became clear that everyone needed to eat. I think this picture looks like one I have of The Hubs as a boy.

Andre inhaled a mac 'n cheese with Aunt Julie.

We went to Paul Bunyan's Cook Shanty for lunch. I get hungry just thinking about that food. Yum! It was fun showing Dad another one of my favorite Dell's spots.

Boy, were we tired after all of that driving! It was so nice to see the family, though. :)

Wisconsin Playground Win

We are all about taking advantage of taxpayer dollars. Here is the local public school playground. It was empty. There was a beautiful fog everywhere. I've never seen such a nice rock-climbing wall at an elementary school.

Isaac enjoyed being at the top.

(His pants are wet because he went down a wet slide. They are pretty much always wet.)

(We had laundry issues so please don't judge me for the wrong-sized clothing.)

Guess Who We Saw in WI . . .

Thursday, August 28, 2014

Our trip coincided with Aunt Cassie's, though we missed Uncle Michael Michael. The boys and Aunt Ria visited with Aunt Cassie all day. They shared Skittles and rode bikes and drew pictures and laughed and laughed.

I have no idea why that wrench is there. I don't recall seeing it.

We also had a crazy hail storm one night. Maria saved the hail. It was nickel-sized at its largest.

Isaac touched each of the Skittles and then gave them to others. "Here, Aunt Ria, this green one is for you!" He was emphatic about who was to each which color Skittle.

"Aunt Cassie, this one is for you!"

Aunt Cassie was even kind enough to babysit with Aunt Ria one night so we could go to dinner! We went to the place with the best Yelp! reviews that Cassie also recommended, The Dirty Oar. It advertised a "million dollar view" and a chef with decades of experience.

This was a great dish!

Lefse

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

Somehow eating this made us feel like we were having an authentic Wisconsin experience. It was sold at Walmart. I was looking for burrata but couldn't find it. There was only one package left of this, so I grabbed it instead (yes, completely unrelated to cheese). It was amazing and only had 80 calories per piece.

I made quesadillas with it because we were trying to eat all of the food in the fridge.
I have no idea if you're supposed to do that. Regardless, there were no leftovers!

Yum!

Ready for Fall

Monday, August 25, 2014

As we roll into the end of summer, we are making soups again. Here is buffalo chicken soup from Cuisine magazine. You will need a box of Kleenex nearby. The Hubs said the heat was "just about right." But he is the one who ate an habanero.

Devil's Lake Revisited

We finally had the opportunity to bring Dad to Devil's Lake. Here is a photo medley.

What is done for one must be done for the other.

Aunt Ria taught Isaac how to blow out of his nose.

We could have made a full day of this. The boys loved being here.
