She continues to be baby crazy. Her little brothers are so lucky.

Thank you, Aunt Monica, for replacing this St. Kateri rosary, which was clenched in my right hand when they needed to start my "a-line" for the transfusion right after birth. We did not recover it. However, St. Kateri was with me. Of that I'm certain.

The pain meds have kicked in. Or, the pain is lessening. Either way, I've been able to sleep without waking up due to pain. This happened at about day 10 post-op. (Previous c-sections were noticeably better after 5 days.) I'm hopeful that things will continue to get a little better each day. Here are some beautiful flowers from my best friend from grade school and my oldest sister. They make me happy when I exit my bedroom. They're in the foyer where everyone can enjoy them.

DH has been super dad.
We are so grateful for his generous paternity leave.

So many friends have pitched in to help us! F5's godparents took the kids for my weekend in the hospital. Another school friend took the Big 3 for an afternoon while I was being discharged:

We've had meals brought every day, which continues for another week-and-a-half; then, we have meals every other day for another month. They are so incredibly helpful! The Engineer's assistant teachers came over with a huge box of In-N-Out burgers the day they heard about our delivery. The Firstborn's teacher sent him a lovely note and a care package. We are truly humbled and so grateful! We could not do this without significant support.

I sit in my office often and contemplate the mercy of God in keeping me alive -- and what a gift it is to be here. Thank you for all the prayers, notes, words of encouragement, etc.! They make a difference. +

DH set up beautifully everything in our bedroom/office, which is the most comfortable place for recovery. ❤

He came in with a treat because I was unable to celebrate baby's birth at the time, although one of my nurses said that the entire staff was cheering and clapping for me when they finally wheeled me out of surgery. 😭❤ One day, I will adequately thank everyone. 🙏

Miracle Baby Is Here!

Born Wednesday, July 14th at 12:43pm
5lbs., 10 oz
17.5"
35 weeks, 3 days gestation
APGARs 8/9

Very intense delivery! THANK YOU for all the prayers. My uterus ruptured during delivery, which set off 2 surgeries over 6 hours, the first of which didn't completely stop the bleeding. 23 red blood cell units given (2.5x my body's total) I'm told. Woke up intubated in ICU. We are now stable and in Postpartum. Baby is in NICU and will be fine... Just gaining weight. Will write more later. Still processing... And so glad to be here! Thanks be to God!

Mr. Serious made dinosaur versions of mom and himself.

Sweet Pea drew herself, Mr. Serious, Mom, & Dad in his Hulkamania t-shirt. And then she drew two hearts on Mr. Serious's. (We are working on keeping our hands to ourselves.)

The Final Countdown...

Here he is: 34.5 weeks. Still riding high. Heart rate 130. Next week, I receive betamethasone injections so that his lungs produce the appropriate lubricant for breathing when we deliver on St. Kateri's memorial. The specialists are lined up: anesthesiologist, two obstetricians, gynecologic oncologist, interventional radiologist, and pediatrician. Any prayers you can offer for a smooth delivery are most appreciated! I hope and trust we will have good news to share by the end of next week.

"Look, Mom! I made!"

We are getting him used to pointing to my belly and saying, "baby!" as opposed to himself. He is developmentally way beyond being a "baby."

"No."
