ER Frequent Flyer

This one was playing with Sol with my resistance band — tug of war — when Sol let go. The handle smacked his face. The gash required sedation as opposed to the head gash he had last March. While a team can hold someone’s head still, it cannot hold a 4-year-old’s lip still. He requested “Final Countdown” and “Greatest Showman” on the way home; and a 4-piece chicken nugget happy meal with a toy and a Shamrock shake. We absolutely complied!
Mock Trial
Sunday, February 25, 2024
The Firstborn competed with his school against 12 other schools. They earned Third Place; and he has a high school scholarship if he participates in pre-law. Can you see a lawyer here? He was, of course, on the defense in a criminal proceeding.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch… We left keys is the Tesla and walked to church (Mass for my friend, Teresa’s dad), yelled, “You’re hurting me!” as mom held our hands in a death grip on the way back from Communion (Livin’ the dream!), walked to breakfast, spilled hot chocolate, got compliments on our helpful behavior (the Engineer), and totally delighted in this life the Lord has called us to.

Spectrum Sailing

The Engineer made the local news’s online page. He got these lessons for free (won a lottery), which now of course he wants to pay to continue… he said he had the best day of his life the first day (1 of 3) and explained the tiller, rudder, sail, and how fast they could go, and how to steer. And while he was talking, the Firstborn said, “Oh man! Now I wish I had autism!”
Spectrum Musings
Thursday, February 22, 2024
“Hey, Mom. Did you ever have autism?” -Engineer
“What do you think? Do I have autism?”
“Yes.”
“What makes you think I have autism?”
“Because you like the same things I do. You laugh at the same things.”
“You mean we both have an excellent sense of humor?”
Laughter. Love this kid!

My professor, who repeatedly mentioned that this is a “post-graduate, university-level course,” (and gave me my only 85% so far), gave me a perfect score on the final. The average score was 87%. I’m so happy!!!
Half way there—pray for me! Aiming for the end of summer.
Mardi Gras
Wednesday, February 14, 2024
My sweet husband asked me out for an early V-Day; and then friends asked us for a double. It was a great night and a lovely, unexpected surprise, following another unexpected surprise of being asked to represent our school parents for our accreditation team. God gives us these nuggets of encouragement to keep us going. There’s plenty of drudgery and sadness but I really don’t want to post about that. When I feel really down, I come here and my Instagram page to be encouraged. Happy Lent.
Additionally, the Engineer won a prize for his shark valentines box.

Marriage Mass
Friday, February 9, 2024
This was a comedy of errors, but we participated in Mass and got free childcare, which we were guilted into paying for. But we met an auxiliary bishop. And it was edifying being with so many couples in sacramental marriages striving to be holy.
