Isaac was very interested in the horses. I had to prevent him from getting too close.
He can throw this on his resume in 20 years: 1770's outdoor sports.
He was bad at the letting go part of the game, which was the whole point.
Our friends got him to do this one reasonably well:
He was very into all of the other boys, who made up about three-quarters of the friends.

We saw some oxen and learned the difference between bulls, cows, steers, and cattle. These are castrated males -- or steers -- who have been trained to work under a yoke. So they are also oxen.
The boys found this cool tree and decided to see how may people could fit inside.
Isaac jumped a lot. This is much more pleasant when it happens outside of our condo.
The older boys actively discouraged Isaac from throwing rocks. I love positive parental support. They were cheerful about it. Isaac responded well to them. I hardly had to correct him with these fine friends around!
We roasted apples and dipped them in hot honey.
And then gave them to small hands, while mom stood over them with a wipe in hand. Anal? Yes.
We visited the music tent. Isaac was surprisingly quiet during the program.
It helped that there was food to put in his mouth.
And hay bales to leap from.
And boys to watch.
Speaking of watching boys . . .
George Washington visited this tent and talked about the music of the war for American independence. Isaac called him "Grandpa."
Of course, the boys found the pile of dirt.
There was something of a mob mentality going on. Where one went, the others followed.
This was a great energy burner!
We learned about black sheep. I thought it was funny that a black sheep can come from two white parents. Sorry, but those kinds of things are funny
when one grows up on a farm!
The kids were absolutely hilarious in the maze! They would all follow each other into a dead end. If one person got excited and started moving, the others would follow.
Isaac found it pointless after a while and decided to get out the fast way.
He got yelled at for climbing on the wall.
Then he made it out with help. The above is my favorite photo from the weekend. It's always easy to find him with that bleach blond hair. Often, his head is all I can see.
Afterward we stopped by Oktoberfest for sausage and beer.
I was pleasantly surprised by the brandy-soaked cherries in that cake -- delicious!
