Toddler-Sized Spaces

I couldn't find the boys and it was suddenly quiet. They were hanging out behind the couch and started giggling when I found them. It's the simple moments...

The Second Day of Christmas

On the second day of Christmas my grandparents brought for me . . .

. . . seven large garbage bags full of presents for under my tree!

There were trucks that beep when they back up!

And animals (from my aunties) that received lots of kisses.

The Nativity scene was still on display.

We ate chicken every day. (Isaac now loves eating satay chicken.)

And we spent the evening with Grandpa and Grandma while mom and dad went out to dinner (thanks to a vendor gift for dad)!

Game of the Week!

Sunday, December 28, 2014

Football has become a big part of our lives since we bought our flat screen. Frankly, I'm happy about it. Watching games keeps us together, talking, and enjoying good food on Sundays. Sundays have become days of rest. Plus, thanks to a signing promotion, we get ALL the NFL games for free. So, we can watch the Packers, Lions, and Redskins each weekend.

I'm actually learning things about football and about my husband! It was good to start this process while the Packers are doing well. It keeps me interested! :) Here's to playoff week one . . .

Survival

This has been The Fall of Sickness in our home. Someone has been sick in our almost every week this fall. Unfortunately, I've had to cancel many engagements, some multiple times with the same people. Some understand. Some do not.

Vitamin C!

Being sick used to stress me out so much when I was working. I would get sick every winter. It always turned into bronchitis, kept me up at night coughing, and would last 10 days, claiming two weekends and a full work week. It wasn't the type of cold one could have and still make it to work. The coughing was too frequent to get anything accomplished. And people don't want you at work when you're coughing. The stressful part was helping others understand. Somehow my colleagues never got sick for the same length of time. (Hubs never gets that sick for that long -- God bless him!)

You know the boy is sick when he falls asleep like this.

I haven't been that sick since our first year of marriage. Back then, I slept on the couch where I could easily prop up my head to prevent night coughing. WCM would pull the bedroom mattress out and put it next to the sofa so that he could be close to me -- really a gem of a husband!

The latest in illnesses has been an ear infection for this poor boy:

He was a trooper, though, and kicked it in less than a week!

And bronchitis for this boy, who also kicked it in less than a week:

His favorite breakfast: waffles with maple syrup!

Unfortunately, they passed the bronchitis along to mom, who is going on day 13, even though she's been on medicine since Saturday. Needless to say, it stinks to be sick while one has small kids.

We've been surviving by letting Dad do a lot of shopping/cleaning and by watching entirely too much PBS Kids. At least I know where some of the tunes Dad sings come from now. He was clearly influenced by Sesame Street.

I love these little chairs. They are the perfect size for the boys.

Curious George is a life-saver and has Isaac thoroughly intrigued with electromagnets:

We are also eating a lot of comfort, slow cooker foods:

Cooking Light Beef Marsala Stew -- Amazing!

Andre's new favorite comfort food is bacon:

And graham crackers. But not with bacon.

When we're not watching PBS Kids or eating, we are sticking our arms/hands in new spaces.

Yes, we need to get better soon!!
