Seems Fair

I discovered this on my desk. Is this more indicative of a band of brothers or how tough they perceive their sister to be? Or both?

Real Conversation at Work Today

Thursday, July 24, 2025

Do YOU have kids? -work neighbor who just had his first child

Yes, I have six kids.

(His jaw visibly drops. He turns. Suddenly I see a respect not present in the previous 3 years we’ve been entering the building at the same time.)

Are they all yours?!

Yes.

How OLD are you?

Forty-three. And I didn’t have my first until I was 29.

(His dad walks in…family business.)

She has SIX kids.

Yes. I know. -the Dad, nonchalantly

No one could do this without the Lord. I’m so grateful for our lasting wealth in these humans. It seldom is recognized like other accomplishments are; but it is nice when it is! Also, this neighbor reminded me of the blessing children are. I sometimes forget. God is good! Blessed be the Lord!

Blossom

Saturday, July 19, 2025

She came back from Blossom with a British accent and so many tears because she had to leave. It looks like they made a solo video.

There were so many tears that I had to take her out for tacos to distract her.

Sol Turns Four!

Monday, July 14, 2025

“Five, keep your hands to yourself!” -Mom

“No! I want him to touch me!” Sol responded with a massive bear hug.

Sol is absolutely the most affectionate child you have ever met. He hugs strangers all day long, especially females. He climbs into moms’ laps confident that there’s nothing else they want. This approach normally serves him well. So he keeps doing it.

All he wanted was a beach bonfire.

Once he realized it was his birthday, life was good!

Thank you for the card, Aunt C!

We learned how to arrange flowers. Sweet Pea joined me.

I learned that my favorite rose is actually the free spirit, not the confetti.

Boys Camp 2

I was told by everyone, including his counselor, that Four was amazing. “He was immediately the most popular boy there,” said the Firstborn. He was pillow fight champion followed by plain old fight champion. He is built like a wrestler.

See Day One, Two, Three, Four, and Five. The Flight of the Valkyries on that last day is pretty amazing. #KillTheWabbit

New Friends and Jesus

Thursday, July 10, 2025

“Mom, I made a friend and she’s going to be here tomorrow and she’s a Christian. She told me. She believes in God. We didn’t talk about that right away, though. We talked about lots of things. Then when we knew each other, she told me she believed in God.”

“She told you or you asked her and then she told you?”

“Well I asked her. But I didn’t ask her straight away because you told me not to do that.”

“So you met her, got to know her really well in 45 minutes and then asked her if she believed in God?”

“Yes.”

Independence Day

Friday, July 4, 2025

We are fatigued and out of words but grateful for friendships.

This is what our city thinks of illegal fireworks. This was the tone for about 4 hours—nary a 5 second break between explosions. Thankfully one of our neighbors, sounding more like he was right outside our window, set off his grand finale at 1:15am. Alcohol + Explosives … What could go wrong?
