It’s a rough life. These were sent from his substitute teacher. She understands the insane energy, thankfully! Also, Sol gets ridiculously doted on.

Buddies

One of the best things our school does is have older kids mentor younger kids when they first start going to Mass and Adoration. Sweet Pea excels at caring for others. I inadvertently saw this and was so glad I had my phone on me. She makes me proud!

From her buddy’s mom:

ER Frequent Flyer

Saturday, April 18, 2026

“How are you feeling now?” a tech asked.

“How do you think? I have a cut in my head.” he responded; and all the adults laughed. We rank very high on the unintentionally-funny scale. (He ran himself into our granite countertop.)

Screaming and banging on my bedroom door began while I was showering. Sadly, I thought nothing of it because of how frequently it happens when the siblings are just angry at each other but in no way hurt.

When I got out of the shower, I shouted to Sweet Pea with incredulity, “Who is dying?”

“[The Fifth]!” she shouted back. “His head is bleeding everywhere!” I exhaled when she said “head” because that almost certainly was not life-threatening. I dressed as quickly as possible and looked at his wound, which was rather deep. Thankfully, the Eldest had applied pressure and a paper towel to the area right away.

The Fifth was panicked and asked to go to the doctor right away. He thought he was actively dying based on the volume of blood loss, but he calmed down once I told him he wasn’t going to die. He’s done this a few times. So the idea of stitches isn’t scary anymore.

“Your face is much more thinner in your picture,” Five told the nurse while the guy was bandaging him.

DH got out of an ER trip and mitigating the birds and the bees info which was hurled on the Fourth unwittingly earlier this week. Good time to be out of town.

Self-Driving Tesla

This technology is amazing. The vehicle drives better than I do! In fact it’s interesting to experience what it finds to be safe. We have a 2026 Y while our economic 3 is being serviced for a warranty item. The kids don’t want to give it back due to the interactive 2nd row screen.

Divine Mercy!

Sunday, April 12, 2026

O my merciful Lord, there are secrets in my heart which no one knows or will ever know except you because, even if I wanted to reveal them, no one would understand me. Your minister knows some because I confess to him, but he knows only the bit of these mysteries that I am capable of revealing; the rest remains between us for eternity, O my Lord!

-St. Maria Faustina Kowalska

Everyone has or is working on a plenary indulgence over here. I had to explain to my kids what a “plenary indulgence” was, which was disappointing. But we’ve known for some time that we have better formation than our kids’ teachers. 😩😔🙏🏼🙏🏼

I dragged their behinds to confession on Saturday morning after explaining to each one the grace being offered to him on this singular solemnity. This is the image that comes to mind:

Top 5 Fears

Cleaning the back yard to earn screen time, she bounced in and announced, “Mom! I cleaned the back yard. Well, let me explained. I cleaned everything except this one small section because it has a TON of spiders! And you can’t expect me to clean the spiders. Spiders are like one of my top five fears!”

“And what are the other four?” 🙄 I asked with the dripping-est sarcasm which in no way slowed her down.

Being in a submarine.

Being in an underground bunker.
Being trapped in a car.
Being trapped in a really long cave.

MNO: Murder Mystery Dinner

The Funniest One

Thursday, April 9, 2026

“[The Fourth] is the funniest one in your family,” our BT recently said.

She gave us these recent tidbits as evidence:

I’m bored of you talking. -to sister

We all sleep in the same bed. It’s a weird life. (We all = youngest 3, laying across the width not length of a full bed. Twin over full. No one sleeps on top due to spiders in the corners.)

There are many times he says something incredibly candid, which makes everyone laugh. His sister was lamenting that one of her friends couldn’t spell “corn.” They started chuckling. I told them to stop laughing and “poor thing!” The Fourth responded, “Not poor thing. What an idiot!”

Easter 2010 vs. Easter 2026

Monday, April 6, 2026

It’s hard to believe! Seven homes, 2 coasts, 6 kids (+ 4 with Jesus), and more challenges than we can count, and here we are with God’s grace! We are much more confident than our 16-years younger selves!! Below left is the extent of our local news fame:

These were thoughts I pulled from 2/2/2010.

We got engaged 2 months later. 🤣 I have no regrets!
