I do not have words only tremendous affection for my German shepherd. Here are some photos from his April 2008 visit to Washington, D.C.

With the now Sr. E. Marie back when we were single and carefree and just barely the same people:

Christmas Break - Week 1

We thrive in structure and have been given an incredibly long Christmas break. So, here are some things we’ve done.

Left work on time almost every single day. My new boss is so much better. He has an indomitable spirit and a mentor approach to management. ❤️

Three neighborhood lights displays. This is one:

Museum with friends:

Snoopy House -- an awesome public display of the Reason for the Season:

Teriyaki Salmon & Veggies. This is a favorite and a special occasion meal as the price of salmon is steep! With an old fashioned.

Christmas Mass. We did not have the patience after Mass to wait for everyone for a good photo:

But temps reached almost 80*; and we went swimming!

And opened 50 presents at our local park. There was so much commotion that another kid came over to ask us what we were doing:

This child needs his own photo shoot soon. He is absolutely adorable and loved by everyone:

This one made Lego flowers for his mom. He's the type who will get a "mother" tattoo across his chest and put just "mother" on my headstone:

This one is so close to being ready for school!

Instead of whole-house order, we are satisfied with regional order:

Buy home goods on OfferUp and change our former unused dining room (We always eat on the peninsula.) into another lounge space for all those imminently pubescent children needing more personal space. And their parents.

“You know the guy who stands in the choir loft and sings? He has a mustache, a beard, AND a girlfriend,” the Engineer remarked.

They had amazing takeaways from the evening, like discovering and giggling about this:

I’m doing my best to refine my children. As you can see, it’s a smashing success.

Trimester Awards

The Eldest was recognized for participating in football. This is a 5th-8th grade ceremony. So, our first. The coach said he was a good kid who did everything he was told. He said he never knew what the Firstborn was thinking and that the Firstborn didn’t laugh at his jokes. I later asked the Firstborn if his coach’s jokes were funny; and he couldn’t remember any. Regardless, the irony is that I had coach’s wife in laughter at the gala; and absolutely zero response from coach. There’s always some deeper analysis we could have after every human encounter.

How beautiful upon the mountains/ are the feet of him who brings glad tidings,/ Announcing peace, bearing good news,/ announcing salvation, and saying to Zion,/ “Your God is King!”

Perpetual Motion

Tuesday, December 20, 2022

She squatted and lunged on her chair while eating. When finished, she asked the lady at the counter for a to-go box. She put her food in it. She got herself some water. Then she cleared all the dishes. Then she wiped our table with her sleeve. (😅) Then she wiped our neighbor’s table. “Are you ready to go, Mom?!” she asked while I tried to finish my breakfast peacefully.

Recently I put myself in time-out in my office. She burst in and I said, “Go out! You forgot to knock.” “Okay, Mom,” she responded calmly, “and I’m so sorry for eating too much,” she turned to reveal this belly:
