We are having the most glorious streak of 75* days. There are a lot of imperfect things about California life (cost of living, aggressive drivers, limited natural resources), but the weather isn't one of them. The sun still sets early because it's winter. So, we stop by parks after school. I am super grateful for the warmth and sunshine!
Guess the Child?

To occupy this child, I asked that he draw his absolute favorite thing. He drew himself eating pizza at home. 😂
Seeking A Less Stimulating Environment
Monday, January 20, 2020
There is so much stimulation in our lives. And, while I used to love the bustle as a single, outgoing person [with almost no responsibilities], I find myself overly stimulated and anxious these days. To counteract that, I try to keep our home clean and ordered. This morning, DH took the kids to the park while I took a long shower, cleaned, lit scented candles, and played Pachabel's Canon in D. [Not to be confused with "Taco Bell's" Canon in D.] When the kids returned:
"How do you feel," I asked the kids.
"It feews wike heaven!" said the Engineer.
Sweet Pea fell asleep in that recliner.
Everyone Needs A Son

"Mom, I wish I could turn you into a girl so then I could marry you because you are THAT beautiful!"
Random Profundity from the Firstborn
Saturday, January 11, 2020
"Do you know what brings me the most joy? Family and friends. Like when I'm holding [Supersonic]. If I'm feeling angry or sad, holding [F-5] makes me feel happy. Joy is happiness that lasts."
More "Twice-Exceptional" Moments
Thursday, January 9, 2020
"Mom, thirty minutes is eighteen-hundred seconds," he said nonchalantly as he passed me nursing supersonic. He paced in front of me with two more double-digit multiplication facts which were correct.
"Mom, when will I be six-and-three-quarters?"
March 9th.
"NO! I WANT TO BE THE OLDEST IN MY CLASS! I HAVE TO BE THE OLDEST IN MY CLASS!"
Well, you're the smartest in your class.
"I want to be the smartest and biggest and oldest in my class. And the fastest."
You only get to choose one. So, do you want to be the oldest or the smartest?
"I want to be the oldest AND smartest."
Do you want to do Kindergarten for two more years? Then you would be the oldest AND smartest. And you could go with Mr. Serious.
"Yes."
[Then he realized how ridiculous this was and started laughing.]
"How much older is Grandpa than you? Is he twice your age?" [The answer to the undisclosed numbers is: yes.]
"Mom, I do not want to get married because I do not want to kiss anyone on the lips."
(Not indicative of 2e but still cute.)
Four Months of the Fabulous Fifth (F5)!
Sunday, January 5, 2020
We should probably just call him F5 as the doctor tells me he is way ahead in the rolling department (front-to-back AND back-to-front for a few weeks now).
He was the one we could barely capture on his 20-week sonogram due to rapid, unceasing motion. So, a supersonic nickname seems appropriate.
He is an amazing sleeper! He has slept through the night since he was ten weeks old, only our second child to do this!
He smiles all the time and is agreeable and flexible so far.
Here are his current measurements:
