 Nothing super special, except all the people in my life! 

They decorated the house for me.


I remembered my SBux free drink this year!


DH gave this to me at my request. I thought it was the funniest card I'd ever seen; but he refused to let me send it anyone. So, I asked him to give it to me. And then, I laughed all over again -- with the Engineer -- because he has a good sense of humor.

This one was pretty great too. It required a special delivery -- separate from our regular mail that day.

DH made me an old fashioned, an apple pie, and let me get Chipotle for everyone. Chipotle is my love language.



The kids were at camp all week. (The Firstborn was at an overnight camp.)


Sweet Pea made me slime:



I woke up to lots of birthday messages, which put me in a good mood instantly. 

I feel privileged to have reached this age! One of my male colleagues said, "Happy 29th birthday!" I responded that I was proud of my forty-one years and am not at all ashamed. One of my female colleagues chimed in that she agreed saying she is much more confident now than she was at twenty-nine. Exactly. Thank you, Jesus! +




Our birthdays together demonstrate how much I've changed. Some of the things I said and did are embarrassing to me now. But I include them because they show me that I've grown: 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, and Forty.

Sweet Pea's Crazy Eight

“Ooooo, where are we?” she asked as we passed waterfalls at the gated entrance to the Ritz in Laguna Niguel.

“It’s the Ritz Carlton,” the Engineer responds confidently.

“This is a great place to go for your honeymoon.” I said.

“What’s a honeymoon?” she asked.

“It’s a couple’s first trip together, often taken right after they get married.”

“Oh, well NOW I kinda want to get married!” she responded. (She was previously telling me that she didn’t want to get married because she wanted to be married to Jesus.)

The Engineer's Big Ten!

“Are Sweet Pea and Mr. Serious in here?!” I asked as I barged into his room for the umpteenth time at bed time.

“No, Mom. They’re not in here,” he said in the sweetest tone.

As I closed the door to continue my search, he shouted, “Fred and Angela, you can come out now!”

I barged back in as he laughed hysterically. “I’m just kidding, Mom!” he said I witnessed their absence.

“That’s not funny.”

“Yes it is!” he responded and laughed incessantly.

He is the first kid to understand tongue-in-cheek comments. He “gets” that they’re tongue-in-cheek before everyone else. He may have trouble communicating; but he has zero trouble with comprehension.

Celebrating Fathers!

He requested penne alla vodka and a Manhattan. I was happy to supply!


His kids love him so much! The Engineer organized and made lunch, complete with personalized plates. Sweet Pea and Mr. Serious made him cards. They tried hard to show him how much they love him.


 
We also bought him a couple of mugs (because we are always breaking them) and a cordless, all-weather, Bluetooth speaker.
