"May the God of love and peace set your hearts at rest." -St. Raymond
I found this lounge set at an estate sale and am thrilled that we can comfortably visit outside now!
Passion Narratives
Wednesday, April 16, 2025
Sol comes home every day and tells me these stories with much gusto. If he’s lucky enough, the Fifth will be around to correct him.
Guess which one is at a Protestant preschool…
Also “thair-seeds” = Pharisees.
Finally, I love how they both recalled the women in the narrative. It reminds me of how dramatically Christianity improved the lot of women. “The girls came and gave him good stuff,” and “…then girls were bringing him surprises…”
Subtlety

“Mom, everyone on my soccer team believes in God except for my coach.”
“Interesting. How do you know? Did you ask everyone? I thought Dad talked to you about not immediately asking everyone you meet whether he believes in God.”
“Well, I just asked my teammates if they believed in God.”
“And then you asked your coach?”
“No. Well. He said, ‘Why do you want to know my beliefs?’ Then he said, ‘I don’t believe in…’ and walked away without finishing.”
“Honey, part of being a good Christian is respecting people’s boundaries, following Jesus' pedagogy. You don’t want to pry personal info from people immediately, especially if they’re hesitant to share. You can show the beauty of being Christian by respecting others' boundaries and loving them where they are regardless of their beliefs. That will make Jesus more attractive to people.”
“Well I just told my coach that it will be veeeeery hard to get to heaven if he doesn’t believe in God.”
Moms’ Night Out
Thursday, April 10, 2025
These are some of my favorite events. I’m now in a further stage of parenting than most, which happened quickly. Hearing about sleep habits, breastfeeding, and childbirth remind me of how much I’ve made it through somehow and with God’s grace. My default is to think about how far I have to go, but sometimes it’s more helpful to reflect on these impossible things I’ve already done with the Lord’s help. There’s a beautiful place in my life for same-aged moms, younger moms, and more seasoned moms. The generational wisdom creates an impenetrable solidarity.
The Engineer

Fifth Grade has several forced performances including a folk dance. The Engineer conformed even if uncomfortable. It was a delight to get these photos and videos.
